Ask questions

Ask questions when you don’t understand others.

Ask questions when you are confused.

Ask questions when appropriate.

Use polite language: Use Could you… /Would you like… /can you help me with… /Would it be possible to….

For example: Could you please show me the place on the map?

Would you like to explain a little more on that topic?

Can you help me with the topic here? I don't quite understand.

Use “sorry to interrupt, excuse me, sorry, Please wait here…” to show extra polite when you interrupt other people.

For example: What do you mean by “setting up the topic”?

                          - Sorry to interrupt, but what do you mean by “setting up the topic”?

When asking questions, be specific.

Go straight to your question.

Bad example:Sorry to interrupt, but could you please go back a little bit, you know, the part you were explaining 5 minutes ago, about budget?(If your question is not clear, you will confuse others).

Good example:Sorry to interrupt, but could you please explain how much budget you planned for this project?

Show your gratefulness after asking the questions.

When you have your answer, say “Thank you” or “Your answer is very much appreciated”. It is nice to thank people for their attention and time.
