It is important when looking to learn the Portuguese language that you are learning European Portuguese and not Brazilian Portuguese. A lot of the online language learning tools such as websites and mobile apps teach Brazilian Portuguese. This is very different to European Portuguese.

The Portuguese Host Language (PLA) - the PLA courses were specifically created to respond to migrant’s needs regarding Portuguese language learning. PLA courses can be co-funded by EU funds.

Plataforma de Português Online - a free online platform you can study at your own pace. There are exercises and tests available, and exams according to the Portuguese language levels.

NIALP Intercultural Association Lisboa - the course covers levels A1 and A2 over 150 hours of study, it is a paid for course, and is a non-profit immigrant focused organisation.

Camões, I.P. - there are three online learning options. The first is a 12 week self-learning course focusing on oral and written comprehension skills. The second is a basic course focusing on oral and written comprehension, speaking and writing over 12 weeks with six online tutoring sessions. The premium course also lasts 12 weeks, with an online tutoring session each week.

Portuguese Language Centre - online classes for all levels of Portuguese. Classes can either be in groups or individually.
